Roofing and shed material is what goes on once the frame is standing: the chadra itself, the purlins and girts it screws down to, and the ridge, flashing, sealant and gutters that close the joins. Jay Shree Infra keeps it at its Saharsa godown, in plain GC chadra and in colour coated sheet, in lengths of 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 18, 20 and 22 ft with cut sizes made to order. Tata Durashine, Jindal and Kamdhenu are the names on the colour rack, with Everest, Konark and Charminar on the cement sheet side.
This is shed material before it is house material. Fabricators putting up a workshop, godown and warehouse contractors, whoever is roofing a village PACS godown, poultry and cattle sheds, and a thekedar roofing a verandah. Most of it is bought against the rain, before the water reaches the Kosi belt. The niv and the columns under a shed are still sariya, and that loads onto the same vehicle. Three of those need a word. SAIL is on this rack because sheet reaches us under the Bokaro name, and Bokaro is a plant of SAIL's. Dyna Fiber is a regional label, the one we stock for both corrugated fibre cement roofing and the translucent daylight sheet set into a metal roof. Purlins and girts are billed here under the Durashine name but come off Tata Steel Colors' Lysaght range, so ask for those by depth and thickness.

Before you order
Measure the roof before you order sheet
Sheet is ordered to a span. Eight standard lengths are kept, 6 ft up to 22 ft, and anything past that is cut to order, so the roof gets measured before a sheet is fixed. Width needs the same care. Tata Steel Colors publishes its Durashine roof sheet at 1072 mm overall and 1015 mm of effective cover, and it is the cover that lands on your purlins, because the side lap eats the rest. Count sheets off the overall figure and the last one will not reach. On a curved run, add the radius and which way it turns. What a thickness figure is counting, and how the lap works on each of the two profiles, are written out on the colour coated against GC chadra guide.
Two numbers can both be called thickness
Steel sheet is quoted either as base metal thickness, which is the steel alone, or as the total with its coating and paint on top. Two figures, one sheet. We stock GC chadra at 0.30 and 0.45 mm and colour chadra at 0.35, 0.45 and 0.47 mm; confirm on the call which basis a quoted figure sits on. Tata Steel Colors publishes Durashine roof sheet at 0.37, 0.47, 0.52 and 0.62 mm total painted thickness. Ask which of the two you are being quoted, and only then put two quotes side by side.
Read what the bill actually names
On GC chadra, Bokaro written on a bill points at a SAIL plant and the material is SAIL's. On colour it does not hold. SAIL publishes no colour coated sheet at all, so colour chadra offered anywhere under the Bokaro name is something else, and we will not bill it to you as SAIL. Read us what is written and we will match it against what came in; the SAIL page sets the sheet side out in full. On tender and project work the fastener spacing and the wind loading are the engineer's or the maker's to approve, and we say that on the call.

Chadra ka hisab sheet se hota hai ya running foot se?
Four bases are in use on this rack and the line decides which: per sheet, by running length, by square foot, and by weight. The same roof comes out at four different looking figures on those four, so ask which one a quote stands on before you set it beside another. Chadra ke saath aur kya kya lena padega?
Ridge and flashing for the top and the corners, self drilling screws, and sealant. Gutters where the water has to be taken somewhere, and a daylight sheet or a roof ventilator where the shed wants light or air. Under the sheet sit the purlins and girts, and under those the frame, which the fabricator's drawing decides. Give us the shed size on the call and we will read the list back.
22 ft ki chadra gaon tak kaise jayegi?
On our own vehicle, sized to the sheet. Sheet length rather than weight decides what goes out, so a 22 ft load and a 10 ft load are two different vehicles at the same quantity. Tell us the village and the approach road, because a long sheet needs room to turn. All 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, charged at the market rate for that route.
Colour chadra me apni pasand ka rang mil jayega?
Ask before you plan around a colour. Colour is fixed on the call along with profile, thickness and length, and what is on the rack depends on what the last load brought. Where the colour has to sit beside an existing roof, say so: a sheet that is close is not a match, and that is better found out here than up on the roof.
Fibre sheet aur cement sheet ek hi cheez hai?
No. At this counter fibre sheet means two things: the translucent daylight sheet set into a metal roof to let light through, and fibre cement roofing, which is a cement sheet.
