Jay Shree Infra keeps MS and GI pipe at its Saharsa godown, in round section and in square and rectangular hollow section. MS is the black pipe, plain steel with nothing over it. GI is the same steel under a hot dip zinc coat off the mill. Satyam, Tata Pipes and Kamdhenu Pipes stand on this rack with three more names beside them, and what leaves it goes into shed columns and trusses, gates, grills, scaffolding and workshop frames.

Buying it are the shed and godown fabricators of this belt, the grill and gate workshops, thekedars putting up a PACS godown, and householders getting one gate made. Pipe travels in 6 metre lengths, half of what a 12 metre sariya bundle needs. Our own vehicles cover all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, and the same trip carries the sariya and the cement where the slab and the shed are going up together.

Brands we stock here

Six names come through the pipe rack and none of them carries a Shop's Pick. Our own first picks sit on the sariya and fabrication racks; on pipe we work to whichever name is standing in the section and the wall the job wants.

Local pipe is a market tier rather than a maker: whatever secondary material is on the floor that day sells under the label, with no mill name and no test certificate behind it, so tender work should be ordered on something firmer. Baba Ispat and Cognigent are labels too, and we name no mill behind either. BST Infrasteel supplies and distributes steel, so on project work read us the marking off the pipe itself, whatever the bill says.

Buying help

Before you order

  • Say the bore, the wall and the section

The bore alone will not order a pipe, and most calls arrive with the bore alone. It is the figure everybody says, one inch, two inch, and it is a nominal size: a tape laid across the outside of the pipe will not read it back. The wall thickness is a separate number, and it is the one deciding whether the section carries what you put on it. IS 1239 sets light, medium and heavy classes for round pipe, and people here ask for the class by its letter, so say whichever the mistri wrote down and we will read it against the wall. Square and rectangular sections are called out side by side by wall, under IS 4923.

  • Where the section stands decides MS or GI

MS is black pipe. Primed and painted after fabrication, inside a shed under sheet, that is usually all it is asked to do. GI carries its zinc off the mill, so on a boundary gate, a stair rail or a water line it keeps doing the job that paint has to be redone to keep doing. GI plumbing pipe is an order of its own: 15, 20 and 25 mm are the sizes water work asks for, and Tata publishes those in 3 metre lengths as well as 6 metre. Where a drawing or an engineer has already named one of the two, that decides it.

  • Six metres, and what rides out with it

The standard length is 6 metres, and it settles more of the delivery than the quantity does. It loads on a tempo, so a two or three piece order can go to a village lane on its own. Angle, flat and square bar for the same gate go on the same trip, and so do roofing sheet, purlins and girts where the frame and the roof are bought in one go. Transport runs at the market rate for that route, and the approach road decides which vehicle is sent.

Questions

FAQ

Saharsa me pipe ka rate kya chal raha hai?

Pipe rate moves with the market and never sits still long enough to print. Call +91 6202 967 218 with the section, the size across it, the wall and how much you want, and today's rate for that exact pipe comes on the same call. Pipe goes per piece and by weight both, so ask which basis your line is on before you set it against anybody else's number.

Pipe inch me maangein ya mm me?

Either one, as long as the wall thickness comes with it. Bore in inches or NB in mm both work at this counter, and the wall is the figure most callers leave out. Say the section as well, round or square or rectangular.

Ek hi size ka pipe alag alag daam me kyun milta hai?

Because two pipes of the same bore can carry different wall thickness, and the heavier wall has more steel in it. Stacked end on, the two look identical. That is why we ask for the wall and the class before quoting anything, and why a quote naming only the size cannot be set beside one that names the wall.

Call with the section and the wall

Give us the section, the size across it and the wall, and the rest is one call: what is standing in that wall this morning, what it goes for today, and when a vehicle can leave. Where a wall is short, that is the first thing you hear.
