Crimping is what a fabricator here calls the second pass a profiled roof sheet gets after the ribs are already rolled into it: the same painted sheet is bent along its length into a shallow curve, so it can run over an arched roof, a canopy, a shop entrance or the transition where a ridge changes pitch instead of lying flat. Tata's Durashine line publishes it as LongLine Crimp, in two curve options, a crimp curve of about 273 mm and one of about 469 mm, both typical figures and subject to local availability. The sheet underneath the curve is the same one described on the colour chadra page: its painted thickness, its cover width and its slope figures belong there and carry over here, because crimping bends the coil rather than changing what it is made of. What changes is the radius, the curve direction and the length, and those are set against your roof rather than off a printed list. What Durashine publishes for the curve, and what the roof decides
A crimped sheet carries no standard size chart of its own, because every one of them is rolled to the radius of the roof it is going on to. Of the names that reach this counter for it, Durashine is the one that publishes a specification for the curve itself.
Tata's own LongLine Crimp FAQ gives two typical curve values, a crimp curve of about 273 mm and one of about 469 mm, and says both are subject to local availability. The profile is offered in ten Durashine colours: Asian White, Cool Blue, Nuvo Blue, Bright Green, Pearl Green, Castle Red, Passion Red, Cherry Red, Smart Grey and Coffee Brown. The base sheet it is crimped from carries its own painted thickness and cover width, published on the colour chadra page, and those figures do not change with the curve.
The span, the rise and which way the roof needs to bend are yours to bring to the call. The sheet is cut and crimped against them, not read off a chart.
Kis kaam me lagta hai
Curved roofs over a workshop bay, canopies at a shop or godown entrance, arched porches, and the ridge transition where two roof pitches meet without a flat capping piece between them. A shed fabricator orders it against a drawing with the radius already worked out. A thekedar orders it off the shape of the roof he is standing under. An arched canopy over one shop front is usually the smallest job it goes on.
The radius a sheet is crimped to has to match the frame it lands on, so a curve settled at the counter and a curve already built into the purlins have to be the same one before anything is cut. On tender and project work we say so on the call before anything else.
The curve is settled on the phone, not read off a chart
Tata publishes two typical crimp curves for LongLine Crimp, about 273 mm and about 469 mm, and both figures come with the same line attached: subject to local availability. Which one is standing this week decides as much as the roof does, so bring the span and the rise of the roof to the call rather than picking a number first.
A curve chosen off a catalogue and a curve that actually fits the frame underneath it are not always the same curve. Where the fit is in doubt, ask for the roof to be measured before the sheet is cut.
What crimping changes, and what it leaves alone
The coating, the ten colours and the painted thickness are the same Durashine line described on the colour chadra page: crimping bends the coil, it does not repaint it or thin it. Only the shape changes, along the length of the sheet and not across its ribs.
That is also why a crimped order still names a straight sheet's own figures. Read us the thickness and the colour off the straight sheet you are matching, or off the frame you are curving it onto, and the crimp is applied against that.
Why a curved roof asks for fewer fittings, per Tata
Tata's own published case for the curved profile is practical rather than decorative: a curved roof needs less supporting structure at the parapet and the roofline than a flat sheet does, it does not need a separate gutter fitted at the eave, and the curve itself closes many of the joints a flashing or capping piece would otherwise have to cover, which the maker calls a leak proof solution.
None of that changes who signs off the frame underneath it. How far apart the purlins sit and what the wind does to a curved roof are still the fabricator's and the engineer's call, and we say so on the call before a sheet is cut.
