Charminar is the corrugated cement sheet that goes over sheds, godowns and workshop roofs. Jay Shree Infra is a Charminar dealer in Saharsa, and the sheet goes out from here to buyers in Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura. Charminar is a roofing brand of BirlaNu Limited, which dates itself to 1946 and traded as HIL Limited before the name changed. It loads at our one premises on Meera Talkies Road.

Say the span and how many sheets, and the counting happens on that call; not every size is in every brand on a given day. The rest of the roofing material is on the roofing and shed page.

What we keep

Charminar corrugated cement sheet

Charminar comes to Saharsa through us as one thing, the corrugated roofing sheet.

BirlaNu also sells a coloured steel roof under the Charminar name. We do not keep that one; for a painted roof ask us for the colour chadra rack.

What BirlaNu calls it now

The old name, and what BirlaNu makes today

Asbestos sheet is the name most buyers around here ask for, and it is the corrugated cement sheet under that name that Charminar stands for. BirlaNu's roofing FAQ says its Charminar roofs today are asbestos-free, and the company sells its whole roof range as fibre cement.

What a particular consignment is comes off what is stamped on the pack. Read it out on the call, or bring the pack, and we check it against what came in here.

What BirlaNu prints

1050 mm wide, 6 mm thick, 146 mm pitch

BirlaNu publishes the Charminar fibre cement roof at 1050 mm wide and 6 mm thick, in lengths from 1 m to 4.25 m, with a corrugation pitch of 146 mm and a corrugation depth of 48 mm. In place of a cover width it prints effective coverage as a percentage, 91% on a 3 m sheet and 87% on a 1.5 m sheet, which is worth the arithmetic before a sheet count is fixed. The Fortune line stops at 3.6 m and carries two standard numbers, IS 459:1992 and IS 14871:2000, where the plain fibre cement page names only the first.

Pitch and depth are the two figures a patch sheet has to match on a roof that is already up. The maker also gives roughly 12.3 to 12.7 kg per running metre, which is enough to reckon a load before a vehicle is picked.

Beside it on the rack

Cement sheet, colour chadra, and who else we keep

Where a shed is going up in painted steel instead, that is another rack and other names, Tata Durashine among them, and how a painted sheet is ordered is on the colour chadra page. On the cement sheet side Konark and Everest sit beside Charminar, and the three are three different companies.

Questions

Charminar ke sawal

Charminar ki sheet asbestos wali hoti hai ya asbestos-free?

BirlaNu's own roofing FAQ answers that Charminar BirlaNu roofs are asbestos-free, and the company sells its current roof range as fibre cement. Asbestos sheet is still the name the trade uses for the corrugated cement sheet, so ask by either name. What a particular pack is comes off what is stamped on it, and we check that against what came in here.

Purani chhat me kuch sheet badalni ho to naap kaise milayein?

Measure the pitch and the depth of the corrugation on the old sheet, and not the length alone. BirlaNu publishes the Charminar roof at a 146 mm pitch and a 48 mm depth, so those are the two figures a patch sheet is held against. Bring both to the call with the count you need.

Charminar ki chadra foot me milti hai ya meter me?

BirlaNu prints this one in metres, from 1 m up to 4.25 m, with the Fortune line stopping at 3.6 m. Around here a span is usually measured in feet, so give us the measurement in whichever unit you took it in and we convert it before the order is fixed.

Cement sheet ladwa kar gaon bhijwana ho to kya dhyan rakhein?

Tell us the village, the approach road, and how the sheets will come off the vehicle at the other end. Our own vehicles reach all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, tempo up to truck by the load, charged at market rates. Cement sheet asks for care in handling, laying and disposal, so settle the unloading arrangement before the vehicle leaves.

Say the span and the corrugation

If a sheet off the old roof is still lying in the yard, the pitch, the depth and whatever is printed along it are all on it. For a new shed, the span and how many sheets are enough to begin with. Bring those to the call and the count is fixed there. Delivery is on our own vehicles to every one of the 34 blocks in the three districts.
