Konark is the corrugated cement roofing sheet of UAL Industries Limited (Utkal Asbestos Limited), a company that dates itself to 1975 and runs units at Dhenkanal in Odisha, Tungadhowa near Midnapore in West Bengal, Baramanpur in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, and Bagnan outside Kolkata. Jay Shree Infra is a Konark dealer in Saharsa and supplies the sheet across Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura. It comes in one thickness and seven metre lengths, is bought and billed by us, and loads at our premises on Meera Talkies Road.

UAL also makes the Neelachal AC pressure pipe, the Surya Jyoti sheet fitted with micro solar domes, and the KONCRETE range of flyash blocks, mortar and tile adhesive. We do not keep those; come to us for the Konark roofing sheet and its ridges and gutters.
Sizes
Seven lengths, one thickness, one grey
UAL makes the Konark sheet in seven standard lengths, all in metres: 1.50, 1.75, 2.00, 2.25, 2.50, 2.75 and 3.00. Thickness is 6 mm and the colour is natural grey. UAL gives no width or corrugation pitch, so if the new sheet has to sit beside a roof that is already up, measure the old sheet across its corrugation and bring that figure to the call.
The one weight UAL gives is 76 running metres to the tonne, which matters only where a load is going over a weighbridge. Sale is by the sheet: say the length and the number of sheets and the count is the order.
What it is made of
Asbestos cement or fibre cement: what UAL says
UAL uses both words for the same sheet: AC Sheet, asbestos cement roofing sheet, and Fibre Cement Corrugated Sheet. It gives the composition as Portland cement with imported natural mineral fibres, with 8 percent chrysotile fibre combined into the mix, and names IS 459-1992 as the standard, the specification for unreinforced corrugated and semi-corrugated asbestos cement sheets.
For a stack in front of you, the printing on the pack and the invoice that came with it settle what it is, and we go through both with you before a sheet is billed.

The fittings carry their own code numbers
UAL lists its Konark fittings by code: KC2 close fitting ridges in two adjustable pieces, KC3 apron pieces, KSC6 barge boards or corner pieces, KC9 north light curves and KC10 serrated ridges. Gutters and gutter fittings are made to IS 1626 Part 2 of 1980, and roofing fittings to IS 1626 Part 3 of 1981. Read the code of the piece you want and bring it to the call; we confirm which ridge or gutter can be arranged with your sheets.

No, UAL's list stops at 3.00 metres. The seven standard lengths are 1.50, 1.75, 2.00, 2.25, 2.50, 2.75 and 3.00 metres. Tell us the span you have to cover and how many sheets, and we will say what is standing and how those lengths work out across it.
