Asbestos cement sheet is the corrugated cement roofing chadra this area has used for decades, cement bonded with mineral fibre and rolled into the same wave profile as a metal sheet. The word asbestos still carries the whole category here, but the three names behind it do not all publish the same answer on composition. Purlins, ridge, and the plain galvanised GC sheet it is sometimes swapped for sit on the roofing and shed page. Sizes
How Konark, Everest and Charminar differ
There is no single size chart for this sheet, because each maker casts and publishes its own. Konark, Everest and Charminar are the three names it reaches this counter under, and each carries its own lengths.
Konark publishes seven lengths, 1.50 to 3.00 m in quarter metre steps, at 6 mm thickness, and gives 76 running metres to the tonne. Everest publishes 1.05 m overall width against 1.01 m of cover, in lengths from 1.5 m up to 3.6 m. Charminar's maker, BirlaNu, publishes its sheet at 1050 mm wide and 6 mm thick, in lengths from 1 m to 4.25 m, with a 146 mm corrugation pitch.
None of the three lists what is standing in the godown on a given morning. Bring the span and the brand, if you have one in mind, and we work the count from there.
Kis kaam me lagta hai
Sheds, godowns, cattle sheds and workshop roofs across Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura are what this sheet still goes onto. It is bought whole for a new roof and by the sheet for a repair or an extension to one already standing.
Matching an addition to a standing roof turns on the corrugation, not the brand name; measure the old sheet's pitch and depth before you ring. Bring that measurement and the span to the call and we will say which of the three names fits it.
Three names, three different answers on composition
Konark's own published composition is Portland cement with imported natural mineral fibre, 8 percent chrysotile fibre in the mix, under IS 459:1992. Charminar's maker, BirlaNu, states in its own roofing FAQ that its current Charminar roofs are asbestos-free and sold as fibre cement. Everest sells both an asbestos and a non-asbestos line and gives no composition statement for the plain sheet we stock, so that one is read off the packing.

Gutters and ridge pieces are their own standard
Gutters and gutter fittings for this roof are made to IS 1626 Part 2, and roofing fittings to IS 1626 Part 3, separate from IS 459 that covers the sheet itself. Konark also carries its own fitting codes, KC2 for close ridges, KC3 for aprons, KC9 for north light curves among them. Order the fittings with the sheet so the profile actually matches.
Heavier than the metal sheet it replaces
This sheet carries real weight: Konark alone publishes 76 running metres to the tonne, and Charminar's is about 12.3 to 12.7 kg a running metre. Check that the frame is built for a cement sheet before an old metal roof is replaced with it.

Asbestos cement sheet ka IS number kya hai?
IS 459:1992 covers unreinforced corrugated and semi-corrugated asbestos cement sheet, which Konark cites for its own sheet. Charminar's maker cites the same number for one of its lines and a second number, IS 14871:2000, for another. Gutters and roofing fittings sit under IS 1626, in two separate parts.
