About Us: the Khagaria Wale story
The shop the Saharsa bazaar calls Khagaria Wale, and the man who has stood at its counter.
We sell iron, steel and cement in Saharsa. Sariya and cement, angle and channel, plate and chadra, pipe, shutter patti, roofing sheet, and the tar and cover blocks that go with all of it. The board over the door reads Jay Shree Infra. In the bazaar the shop is Khagaria Wale, and that is the name people give an auto driver when they want to find us.
There is one premises and no branch anywhere. The shop, the office and the point our vehicles load from are one address on Meera Talkies Road. Shop hours: All 7 days, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Sunday is a working day here too, because a dhalai does not wait for Monday. Anybody who has stood at this counter has seen the whole firm.
How the trade came down to him
Ajay Kumar Bageria has stood at this counter for thirty five years. He was not the first man in his family to stand at one.
His grandfather dealt in iron and steel, and his grandfather's father before that. The shop Ajay ji grew up around was not his own, it was theirs, and that is where the learning happened. It is how this trade has always been handed on: you stand in it while somebody older does the talking, for years, until the answers are yours.
That kind of knowing does not come out of a catalogue. Which size moves in Saharsa and which one has to be sent for. What a thekedar on a tender job will take, and what he will turn back at the gate. Which grade a drawing asks for and which one the mistri will accept. Thirty five years is what all of that adds up to, and it is the whole of what a customer is buying when he rings this number instead of another one.
Jay Shree Infra, the firm, was started in 2024. It is the newest thing in this story by a long way, and the trade behind it is a great deal older. We keep the two apart, here and everywhere else we are listed. A two year old firm that tells you it is sixty years old has already told you something about itself, and it is not the thing it meant to say.
What we keep
Eight kinds of material make up what we stock. TMT bars (sariya) and cement move the most, and that is where somebody building a house usually starts.
Structural steel is the angle, channel and patti a grill and gate shop takes. Steel sheets and MS and GI pipes go to fabricators and shed builders.
Rolling shutter material is the patti and the profile a shutter is built out of. Roofing and shed material is chadra, plain GC and colour coated both. Hardware and accessories is the tar, the cover blocks and the small things a site runs out of.
Which brands we trade in volume, and which we keep only a little of, is set out on the brands page. We call ourselves a dealer, a supplier and a stockist. We do not put the word authorized against any brand unless we hold the certificate for it.
How the material reaches the site
Delivery is our own. The vehicles belong to the shop, from a tempo up through a tractor to a truck, so the loading order is ours to set and no order sits waiting on a hired gaadi. Coverage is all thirty four blocks of the three districts: ten blocks in Saharsa, thirteen in Madhepura and eleven in Supaul.
Quantity is not usually the thing that decides it. If the load is feasible we send it, and freight is charged at market rates. The road decides more than the tonnage does, so tell us the village and the load on the call and we will tell you which vehicle it needs. Rate and freight are both a phone call, and that is deliberate: a number quoted today is wrong by next week.
