A thekedar is rarely buying for one job. Three sites can be at three different stages on the same morning, a footing on one, a roof slab on another, a boundary wall on a third, and each one wants a different mix of TMT bar, cement and sheet on the same day. The order is bigger than a homeowner's own single house, and it repeats: the same sizes come back site after site, because the drawing a mason is working from this month usually looks like the one from last month.

The work
The jobs a thekedar runs at once
Foundation and footing work, columns and beams rising off it, boundary walls in brick or in angle and sheet, small commercial buildings, and shed or godown structures for a PACS society or a private godown owner. Between them a contractor's order runs through TMT bar and cement at the footing, structural steel where the frame is steel rather than RCC, GP sheet or GC sheet on a roof or a wall, and binding wire and cover block wherever a cage goes into shuttering.
What decides the order is rarely one drawing. A thekedar juggling two or three sites at once has to know today's rate against a size before he commits a labour gang to it, and he has to know it fast enough that the gang is not standing idle waiting for an answer.

Buying in bulk
What a thekedar's own order looks like
The shop stocks the brands the trade asks for by name, across all eight categories, so a drawing that names Tata Tiscon or a site engineer who wants SAIL does not have to wait on a second call. Not every size sits in every brand on a given day, and that is where the counter's own read of the bazaar helps: which diameter is moving this week, which one a labour gang usually sends back if it does not match the drawing, and which grade of sariya a tender site actually asks for against a private house down the same road.
Tender and project work brings its own paper. Where a drawing names an approved make, an MTC travels with that load, and it is worth saying so on the same call the order is placed on rather than after the truck is loaded. What an MTC covers and when it is asked for is worked through in full, and comparing a delivered quotation against a godown rate is useful before a bulk order is placed against more than one supplier.
A name not standing on the rack today can still be brought in. What decides it is the name, the size and how much of it, and the honest answer is one the caller hears on that same call, with no day or hour attached to it.

Ek saath do teen site ka order chalega?
Yes, a fresh call for each site or one call naming all of them works either way. Stock and today's rate are read against each site's own size, and loads for two sites can go out the same day on separate vehicles if the sizes are ready.
Tender ke kaam me MTC milta hai?
Where a drawing names an approved make, an MTC travels with that load. Say it on the call the order is placed on, because the certificate has to be pulled at that point and not after the vehicle has already left the yard.
Rack pe na ho wo brand mangwa sakte hain?
Often, yes. The name, the size and how much of it decide it, and the caller hears the answer on that same call. No day or hour is promised ahead of it, because it depends on what that particular name and size need.
Bhejne se pehle size galat ho to kya hota hai?
The counter confirms the exact size against the drawing before it leaves, because a labour gang turning back a mismatched load costs more than the extra minute on the call. Say the diameter or the leg size along with the grade, not only the product name.
Kai site tak delivery kaise hoti hai?
