Vehicle loads: tempo, tractor and truck
A Mahindra Jeeto Strong, a tempo class loader, is rated by its own maker at 815 kg of payload in diesel, about 16 bags of 50 kg cement; a Bolero Pik-Up in its 4WD form carries 1010 kg, about 20 bags; and a Jayo class truck's own gross weight rating runs to 4990 kg, body and engine included, the size this trade calls a truck. What actually carries a given load here is confirmed on the call, since these published figures are the class a word like tempo stands for, not this shop's own registration plate.

Jay Shree Infra runs its own delivery, tempo to tractor to truck, into all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, any feasible quantity, at the market rate for that route. Which vehicle actually turns up at the gate is confirmed on the call; what is below is the class each of those three words stands for, in a manufacturer's own published weights, so a real number sits behind a word that would otherwise mean only small, medium or big.
A tempo class loader, a pickup a fabricator might call a chhota truck, and a truck proper are not three sizes of one thing. Each is rated to carry a different weight and each arrives in a different length before anything is loaded onto it, and the figures below, all Mahindra's own, for named models in each class, are read to give a real number to work from.
The weight table
What a tempo, a pickup and a truck are rated to carry
Five named vehicles across three classes, GVW and payload as their own maker publishes them, and how many 50 kg cement bags that payload holds.

| Class | Model | GVWkg, maker's own figure | Payloadkg, published or GVW minus kerb weight | 50 kg cement bagsat most, worked out from the payload |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tempo | Jeeto Strong Diesel | not published | 815 | 16 |
| Tempo | Jeeto Strong CNG | not published | 750 | 15 |
| Pickup | Bolero Pik-Up 2WD | 2950 | 1280 | 25 |

GVW is a vehicle's own weight plus everything it carries, engine, body and driver included; payload is what is left for the load once the vehicle's own kerb weight is taken out. Mahindra prints payload directly for two of these five; for the Bolero Pik-Up 2WD it prints GVW and kerb weight only, so the 1280 kg here is that subtraction, not a second figure Mahindra states. The cement bag column is the payload divided by 50 kg and rounded down, on the 50 kg net bag weight the cement storage guide sets out; it is arithmetic on the payload, never a figure any maker publishes. None of these five is necessarily one of this shop's own vehicles; they are named models in each class, read from the maker's own page, to put a real number against tempo, pickup and truck.
Two classes sit either side of what most building material actually rides on here. A tempo class loader like the Jeeto Strong is quick into a narrow lane and light on its own kerb weight, which is most of why its payload stays under a tonne. A Bolero class pickup roughly doubles that, and a Jayo class truck's own gross weight, engine and body included, is close to five tonnes before a single bag goes on.
The bag count is a floor, not a promise. 815 kg divided by 50 is 16.3, and only 16 whole bags, 800 kg, actually fit inside that payload with room left; a 17th bag would put the vehicle over its own rated weight.
On the load
Bags, bundles and sheets, and what changes between the three
Cement is the easiest load to count, because a bori is a bori: 16 bags on a Jeeto Strong diesel, 20 on a Bolero Pik-Up 4WD, and a Jayo class truck's own gross weight allows for a full pallet load before the vehicle itself is anywhere near its limit. TMT bundles, angle and chadra sheets do not count as neatly, because a bundle's weight depends on the diameter and a sheet's weight depends on the gauge and the size, so those go on the vehicle by the total weight, never by a piece count.
A tempo suits a short list bought against a day's work, a few bags, a bundle of binding wire, a stack of cover blocks. A truck suits a full order for a house, TMT, cement and chadra together, where the combined weight is what a smaller vehicle could not carry in one trip.
What decides the vehicle isn't only weight
A 20 ft length is longer than most of these vehicles
A 12 metre TMT rod is longer than the overall length of every vehicle in the table above, more than twice the Bolero Pik-Up 2WD's own 5.219 metre length end to end. HMB's 20 ft angle, flat and square, 6.096 metres, is longer again than that same pickup's overall length, by nearly a metre, and none of the five cargo boxes in the table comes close to holding one flat inside it.
So a full length rod, angle or pipe rides projecting past the tailgate on whatever it is loaded onto, tied down, the same practice on a tempo as on a truck. Which vehicle a load actually needs usually turns on weight rather than on whether the length fits inside a box, because none of them are built to swallow a 20 ft piece whole.
Tractor, and the gali a truck cannot enter
Narrow lanes, and what gets cut before it gets loaded
A tractor pulling a trolley is this shop's third vehicle for exactly this reason: some lanes into Saharsa's older mohallas and Supaul's and Madhepura's villages are narrower than a truck can turn into at all. No maker publishes a rated capacity for a trolley the way Mahindra publishes one for the Jeeto Strong or the Jayo above, because a trolley is usually a separate fabricated implement, and no maker puts a rated figure on one.
A length that overhangs a tailgate needs room to swing through a bend that a loaded truck itself may not have. Where the lane is the limit rather than the weight, the practical answer is often to cut the angle, the pipe or the rod to size before it leaves the yard, and send the shorter, lighter pieces in on whichever of the three vehicles the lane actually admits, rather than sending a full length out on a bigger vehicle that cannot turn into the road at all.

What to say on the call
Say what is being ordered and how much of it, and say the lane, wide enough for a truck, a tractor only, or a tempo only, so the right vehicle is the one that is sent rather than the one that is sent back.
We reach all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura in our own vehicles, tempo to tractor to truck, any feasible quantity, at the market rate for that route, and which one comes is settled on the same call as the order. The 50 kg bag figure used above and where it comes from is on cement in the monsoon; for how a delivered figure on a quotation compares against one off the godown, see compare material quotes.

Questions
Tempo, tractor aur truck ke sawal
Chhota hathi me kitna cement aata hai?
A tempo class loader's own rated payload decides it, not a guess. A Mahindra Jeeto Strong diesel is rated by its own maker at 815 kg, which is 16 bags of 50 kg cement with a little payload left over; the CNG version is rated at 750 kg, 15 bags exactly. Ring +91 6202 967 218 with the count and the vehicle is confirmed on the same call.
Ek pickup me kitni bori aa jayegi?
A Bolero class pickup's payload runs 1010 kg on the 4WD variant and about 1280 kg on the 2WD, on Mahindra's own published weights, which is 20 and 25 bags of 50 kg cement. A full order for a house usually goes on the bigger vehicle instead, since TMT and chadra ride with the cement.
Truck aur tempo me farak sirf size ka hai kya?
No. GVW is the real difference, the vehicle's own weight and its full load added together: a tempo class loader's rating sits under 2 tonnes, a pickup's around 2.7 to 3 tonnes, and a Jayo class truck's own gross weight rating runs to about 5 tonnes. Which class a job needs turns on the total weight of the order, not on how the vehicle looks.
12 metre ka sariya rod kisi bhi gaadi me seedha aa jayega?
No vehicle in this trade carries a 12 metre rod or a 20 ft angle flat inside its own load body; every one of them is shorter than that. The length rides projecting past the tailgate, tied down, on a tempo the same as on a truck, so the vehicle is chosen for its weight rating, and whether the length fits inside a box never enters it.
Tractor trolley me kitna wazan aata hai?
No maker publishes a rated figure for a trolley the way Mahindra publishes one for a tempo or a truck, because a trolley is usually a separate implement rather than a number the tractor's own maker rates. A tractor is this shop's third vehicle for the lanes a truck cannot turn into, and what a particular trolley carries is confirmed on the call rather than off a published table.
Before the vehicle is booked
Tempo, tractor or truck for this load
Each one decides something the weight table above cannot by itself.
Kitna material aur kaunsa, ek trip me?
The combined weight decides the class before anything else does; say the full order, including what else is going out the same week.
Gali kitni chaudi hai, truck ghusega ya sirf tempo?
A truck that cannot turn into the lane is sent back, so this decides tempo, tractor or truck before the vehicle leaves the yard.
Poori length chahiye ya kaat kar bhejni hai?
A rod or angle that overhangs the tailgate needs room to swing through a bend a loaded vehicle may not have in a narrow lane.
Ek trip me sab kuch, ya do chakkar theek hai?
A smaller vehicle into a tight lane sometimes means two trips instead of one bigger load.
Kis din, aur andar tak ka rasta kaisa hai, kaccha ya paka?
The route's own surface is part of what decides which vehicle actually goes, and the fare follows the market rate for that route.
