A house builder buys differently from a contractor running several sites. There is one drawing, one site, and the order comes in stages rather than all at once: a load for the footing, a load for the columns and beams, a load for the roof slab, each one weeks or months apart and each one needing its own diameter, its own cement grade, its own cover height. Nobody at this counter expects a first time builder to already know all three.
What this counter is good for is exactly that gap. Sizes that move in this bazaar and sizes that sit are known here across three generations, so a family building one house gets the same read on stock and rate that a site running every week already gets, without having to guess at what to ask for.
The build
What a house draws from this counter, stage by stage
TMT bar and cement go in three separate times, at the footing, at the columns and beams, and at the roof slab, and the same steel and cement diameter or grade rarely stays fixed across all three. Cover blocks and binding wire travel with the steel every time, holding the cage off the earth and holding its shape while the pour goes in. Waterproofing liquid comes in at the roof slab pour itself, mixed into the concrete or run on afterward, depending on what the mason's own method calls for.
Where the roof is a shed rather than a poured slab, the last call changes shape: GC sheet on purlins instead of a further round of TMT bar and cement. Either way, the four materials that carried the house from the niv upward are the same four names coming back, not four different orders.
Your rack
The material a house build draws from
Six pages, each with the sizes and grades a house build asks for, niv to roof.
- TMT Bar (Sariya)For the footing cage, the columns and beams, and the roof slab, at whatever diameter the drawing carries.
- CementOPC and PPC, across the brands this counter keeps, for whichever pour is next.
- Cover BlockHolds the steel cage off the earth and the shuttering at the right cover height.
- MS Binding WireTies every crossing in the cage so it keeps its shape while the concrete goes in.
- Waterproofing LiquidGoes into the roof slab pour, or runs on afterward, against seepage through the years ahead.
- GC SheetWhere the roof is a shed instead of a slab, or over a verandah at the side of the house.
Choosing
What a house builder brings to the call
A first time builder rarely knows how much TMT or cement a stage needs before the mason says so. How much TMT a house of a given size takes and what a foundation stage draws on both work through the numbers so the first call is not a guess. The order the whole build follows, footing to roof, is set out in the buying order for a house.
The shop stocks the brands this trade asks for by name, Tata Tiscon and SAIL among the sariya, UltraTech, ACC and Nuvoco among the cement, so a mason's own preference is rarely a problem. Not every grade sits in every brand on a given day, and that is confirmed on the call rather than guessed at the counter.
Ordering
How one house's order actually runs
Ring with the stage the site is at, niv, columns and beams, or the roof slab, and the diameter, grade or bag count the drawing carries for that stage. Stock is checked on the call and the morning's rate comes back against that exact figure.
Delivery runs in our own vehicles, tempo to tractor to truck, into all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, at the market rate for that route, with no day or hour promised ahead of the call. The cement for a roof slab pour and how long a bag can stand before the mixer starts are both worth reading before the roof stage is ordered, so nothing sits waiting on site longer than it should.
Questions
What home builders ask
Ek kamre ka kaam ho to bhi order lete hain?
Yes. A room addition or a boundary wall gets the same call as a full house: the stage, the size and the quantity, and stock and today's rate come back against it. There is no order too small for this counter.
Ghar ki dhalai ke liye cement kaunsa lein?
UltraTech, ACC, Nuvoco and more sit on the rack, and which one a house takes is often the mason's own preference. Say the stage, footing, column or roof slab, because the grade a mason asks for can change between the three even on one house.
TMT ka size nahi pata, phir bhi order kar sakte hain?
Yes. Say the stage and roughly the covered area, and the counter works from there with you, or the mason's own figure is taken over the phone once he has looked at the site. Guessing at the diameter and finding out on the day of the pour is the expensive way round.
Chhat dhalai ke baad waterproofing zaroori hai kya?
Most house builders here take it at the roof slab stage, mixed into the pour or run on afterward, because a slab is the one surface that stands in the open through every monsoon after it is cast. It is a separate item from the cement and steel order, so say it on the same call.
Ghar ke site tak bhada kaise tay hota hai?
By the route, not off a list. A house site usually takes a tempo or a tractor trolley, because the last stretch to a plot is often a narrow lane, and the charge for that run is the market rate on that road. Give the block, the village and the last approach when you ring, and the carriage is quoted along with the material.
