For Shed & Godown Builders (incl. PACS)

Structural steel and pipe for the frame, TMT bar and cement below it, GC sheet and purlins over the top, for the godown shed material supplier Saharsa asks for when the building is a shed, a godown or a store rather than a house.

A shed or a godown is not one order, it is several, pulled from different racks for different roles: foundation and any RCC column from the TMT and cement rack, the frame from structural steel or pipe, the roof and sometimes the wall from the sheet rack, and the loading bay from rolling shutter parts. A PACS society building a grain store draws on the same racks a private godown owner or a warehouse contractor does, in the quantities its own drawing calls for.

What changes from a house order is scale and clear span. A shed's truss, its column spacing and its roof sheet count all follow the span and the storage capacity a site engineer has already worked out, so this counter's part is sequencing what that drawing needs, rack by rack, rather than telling anybody how wide to build.

The structure

The roles a shed or godown pulls together

Below the floor, an RCC column takes TMT bar and cement the same way a house footing does; a steel column instead stands on an MS plate base bolted to the same footing, drawing on channel, joist or MS pipe rather than sariya. Above it, the truss that carries the roof is angle, MS pipe or GI pipe cut and drilled to a fabricator's drawing, and the roof sheet itself is GC sheet or colour coated sheet built to the same IS 277 standard either way.

The wall goes up in brick and cement, or the same roof sheet run straight down the side instead, and the loading bay is a rolling shutter or a fabricated steel door wide enough for the vehicle that will use it. Purlins and girts sit between the truss and the sheet, carrying the roof's own load down to the frame below.

Sequencing

What a drawing decides before the order does

A grain godown or a PACS shed draws on six roles between the foundation and the shutter, and the full material list, role by role maps every one of them onto this shop's own eight racks. Whether the roof goes up in GC sheet or colour coated sheet is its own separate question, worked through in GC sheet against colour coated sheet.

The shop stocks the brands this trade asks for by name, so where a drawing names SAIL for the reinforcement or a particular section for the truss, the call moves straight to sizes rather than a second conversation about the make. A name not standing on the rack can still be brought in, decided on the same call by the name, the size and how much of it, with no day or hour attached to the promise.

Ordering

How a shed or godown order runs

Bring the span and the storage capacity, or the drawing itself, and whether the column is RCC or steel, and the counter works out which racks the job draws from and in what sequence the loads should leave: foundation first, frame next, roof and wall together, shutter parts last.

Delivery runs in our own vehicles, tempo to tractor to truck, into all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, at the market rate for that route, no day or hour promised ahead of the call. A truss member or a full length angle rides projecting past the tailgate rather than inside the load body, and what each vehicle is rated to carry is worth checking before a long or a heavy load is booked.

Questions

What shed and godown builders ask

PACS ya samiti ke godown ka order lete hain?

Yes. A PACS society building a grain store draws on the same racks a private godown owner does, TMT bar and cement below, structural steel or pipe for the frame, sheet for the roof. Bring the drawing or the span and the capacity, and the order is sequenced from there.

Shed ka dhaancha channel se banega ya pipe se?

Both are used, and which one a drawing calls for is the fabricator's or the site engineer's own choice. Channel and joist suit a heavier truss and a wider span; MS pipe suits a lighter frame. Either way it stands on an MS plate base over the same RCC footing.

Bade shed ki chhat GC sheet lein ya colour coated?

Both are built to the same IS 277 standard on the steel underneath, so the choice comes down to finish and where the shed stands rather than strength. Colour coated sheet costs more and holds its colour longer; plain GC sheet is the more common choice for a working godown roof.

Lambi truss member gaadi me kaise aati hai?

It rides projecting past the tailgate, tied down, the same on a tempo as on a truck, because no vehicle in this trade has a load body long enough to swallow a full length angle or pipe whole. Say the length along with the quantity so the right vehicle is sent for it.

Bade shed ka order kis tarah se bhejte hain?

Foundation material first, frame steel next, roof sheet and any wall sheet together, and shutter parts last, for the bay the vehicle actually moves through. Bringing the span and the capacity on the first call lets the counter sequence all of it rather than one load at a time.
