Round bar is the smooth solid section a gate filling, a grill and a shaft are cut from. Jay Shree Infra keeps it in both finishes at its Saharsa godown, under two names: HMB and Solar. HMB publishes five diameters, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm, the same five on its plain iGrill list and on its galvanised Grill Guard list. The load leaves in our own vehicles for Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura.
The other round bar in this trade is sariya. Sariya is ribbed and is tied inside concrete; this one is smooth and gets welded. Their arithmetic is shared, because a circle is a circle: diameter squared over 162 gives the kilograms in a metre, and every weight HMB prints against its rounds comes out of it. Where that divisor comes from is worked out in the sariya weight chart. Even the lengths part company, 20 ft here against 12 metres on the sariya rack. These five are HMB's own figures for the plain iGrill round, and its galvanised Grill Guard list carries the same diameters at the same weights, so one table does both. Kis kaam me lagta hai
Gates, grills, shafts, supports, machinery and general fabrication are what round bar goes into. In grill and gate work the round is the filling inside an angle frame, cut to length and welded. On a machine job the same bar is stock to be cut, drilled or turned, and that work asks something of it a welded picket never does.
Local fabricators, larger fabricators, thekedars and project construction companies all buy off this row. Electrodes, cutting wheels, primer and fasteners go out on the same order when the job needs them. On tendered work the grade is the tender's to name and the test certificate has to reach the site with the load, so say what the paperwork must show before anything else.
One number, and it is the diameter
A round is ordered on its diameter and nothing else. There is no second leg to give and no wall thickness to measure, so 12 mm round has said the whole section. The order form we work from asks for material, size, thickness, length, brand and quantity, because those same six fields cover patti, chadra and pipe as well; on this row the thickness field stays empty and it is meant to.
Round or square, at the same number
Twenty millimetre round and twenty millimetre square are two different bars. HMB publishes the round at 2.47 kg per metre and the solid square at 3.14, and at 25 mm the two read 3.86 and 4.81. A square fills the box a circle only touches, so about a quarter more steel goes into every metre of it and into every metre of the bill. Its list also starts smaller, at 8 mm against the round's 10. Say the shape before the size.
Hot rolled black, and the bar that has been turned
This row is hot rolled black round, with galvanising as a finish applied to it. Bright bar, peeled or turned down to size, is a separate product line, and it is what a job machined to a tolerance is after. A picket welded into a frame and a shaft that has to run true are two different questions, and only the first is answered by a diameter.

Where each figure above was read
The two HMB pages the diameters and the weights came off, one for each line. Round and square bar dimensions in this trade follow IS 1732, though which edition and amendments HMB rolls to is not stated on either page.

Round ke sawal
Round aur sariya ek hi cheez hai?
No. This round is smooth and gets welded; sariya is ribbed and is tied inside concrete to IS 1786. At the same diameter both weigh the same per metre, because the sum is the same circle, so 12 mm of either works out at 0.89 kg a metre. Where they part is the length, 20 ft against 12 metres.
Table me paanch size hain, iske alawa round nahi milta?
Those five are what HMB publishes, which is a smaller thing than what the trade rolls. Whether a diameter above 25 mm or below 10 mm can be got for you is settled on the phone. Give us the diameter, say plain or galvanised, and say how many pieces or how many kilos.
Order me round ki thickness bhi likhni hoti hai?
There is no thickness on a solid round, so 16 mm has already said the section. Our order form carries a thickness field because one form covers patti, sheet and pipe too, and on this row it is left blank. Beside the diameter we need the finish, the count or the weight, and the village.
Shaft ke kaam wala round alag hota hai?
Usually yes. Hot rolled black round is what a gate, a grill or a bracket is built from. Bright bar, peeled or turned to size, is a separate product line. Tell us the tolerance and the finish the work needs, and we will come back with what is possible.
Grill Guard wala round aur kala round, size me farak hai?
No. HMB prints 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm on both lines, at the same kilograms per metre. What changes is the coating on the outside. Say plain or galvanised at the start of the call, because the diameter on its own does not tell us which rack to look at.
