Square bar is solid steel with four flat faces. It goes into grills, gates, railings and frames. Jay Shree Infra keeps it at the Saharsa godown in plain steel and galvanised, under HMB and under the Solar label. HMB publishes six sizes, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm, all at 20 ft, uncoated as iGrill and galvanised as Grill Guard. Not every size is in every brand on a given day, so name the size with the brand when you ring. Loads go out in our own vehicles to Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura.
Square is the word for the hollow one too, the tube a shed frame or a gate frame gets welded up from, and that is a different order on different numbers. Sizes and weight
The six squares HMB publishes, and what a metre weighs
Every solid square size on HMB's published list, with the weight it prints per metre.

These six figures are HMB's own, printed for iGrill in plain steel and printed again unchanged against Grill Guard on the galvanised side, both at 20 ft. Five of them come off the sum a fabricator already works on the back of a slip: side times side times 0.00785, and the answer is kilograms per metre. The sixth does not. At 25 mm that sum gives 4.906 and HMB prints 4.810. Where a bar is sold under a maker's name, the maker's printed weight is the one to bill on.
Kis kaam me lagta hai
Grills, gates, railings and frames are the main jobs square bar goes into, with machinery work and decorative fabrication behind them. The frame is angle and the square is what stands inside it, so one grill job takes two sections off one rack.
Local fabricators, larger fabricating shops, thekedars and project construction companies are who buy it. It goes out by the piece, by the kilo, by the bundle and by the tonne, and which of those four a size is moving on is fixed on the call before anything else is.
One figure names it, and it does not name the shape
A square is ordered on the side alone, in millimetres, where an angle needs three figures and a patti two. What that one figure does not carry is the shape, because a round bar answers to the same number. HMB publishes 12 mm square at 1.130 kg per metre and 12 mm round at 0.89. That is about 27 percent more steel standing in the square, and the same gap holds at 10 mm, 16 mm and 20 mm.
So the shape goes first and the figure after it. Where a slip carries neither, the weight tells you which one was meant: a 20 ft length of 12 mm square comes to about 6.9 kg and the round to about 5.4.
The coating does not show up in the printed weight
HMB rolls the square in two lines, iGrill uncoated and Grill Guard galvanised, and prints the same six sizes at the same kilograms per metre against both. Finish is therefore a separate question from size, and on steel that will stand out in the weather it is the question worth settling first.
No coating weight is published against the galvanised line, in gsm or in microns, so we quote none. Where a job has been specified with a coating class, raise it when you ring, because what a length can be shown to carry is a question about the papers that came in with it.
Bar and tube, ordered on different numbers
A solid square takes one figure. A square hollow section takes three, the two outside sides and the wall, so 50x50x2 is a section and 50 mm on its own is half an order. The hollow one carries no class letter either, which is a round pipe idea and belongs there.
Say solid or hollow first when you call, then the size in millimetres. Everything else on the order, plain or galvanised and how many lengths, follows after that.
Brands
One published list, one label with nothing behind it
HMB prints a size and a weight against every square it rolls. The Solar label prints neither. Both go out of the same door here, so say the name with the size when you ring.

Solar comes from the Alaknanda TMT group's mill, though the group does not put its own name on it. We have stocked Solar square for years with a clean finish and no complaints coming back, and it is our first pick for grill and gate work. No size table is published under the Solar name, so a Solar square is measured at the counter, and which sides are standing today is a call.
- HMBShop's PickiGrill is the uncoated square and Grill Guard the galvanised one, and the six figures in the table above are HMB's own. We supply and distribute for HMB, and it is what most fabricators here reach for, clean finish and straight lengths. What a maker publishes and what is standing on the floor are two questions, and only the second one needs a phone.
On paper these two lines carry the same six sizes at the same weight. In the godown that agreement settles nothing, because which of them a size is standing in on a given morning moves with the last load in. 12 mm square aur 12 mm round me weight ka farak kitna hai?
About 27 percent, and the square is the heavier one. HMB publishes 12 mm square at 1.130 kg per metre against 0.89 for the round, so a 20 ft length works out at roughly 6.9 kg against 5.4. The gap holds at the other sizes too, because a square of a given side always holds more metal than the circle that fits inside it. Say the shape before the number.
Square bolne par thos milega ya chaukor pipe?
Say which one, because both answer to that word. Solid bar is what we mean here, 8 to 25 mm on HMB's list. The hollow one is square tube, called out by its two outside sides and its wall, and it sits with the pipes on our MS pipe page. A 50 mm solid and a 50x50x2 tube are two separate orders.
Galvanised square bhi rakhte hain?
Yes, HMB's Grill Guard line, in the same six sizes as the plain iGrill square and at the same published weight. HMB puts no coating figure on it, in gsm or microns, so we quote none. Whether your size is in plain or in galvanised today is settled on the phone, and both leave here at 20 ft unless the pieces are cut before they load.
25 mm square ka weight hisab se kyon nahi milta?
Because a maker prints what his own bar weighs and the trade sum prints what the nominal size works out at. Side times side times 0.00785 gives 4.906 kg per metre at 25 mm, and HMB prints 4.810. The other five sizes land on that sum to the decimals it publishes. Take the printed weight for a bar sold under a maker's name, and weigh the load where the deal is on weight.
Square, angle aur patti ek hi gaadi me bhijwa denge?
Yes, they come off one rack and ride on one vehicle. Say the village and what the last stretch of road is like, because a full 20 ft piece will not turn every corner in a village lane, and say whether the pieces can be cut here before they load.
