Jay Shree Infra ties sariya into bundles at the Saharsa godown the way each mill sends it in, and the piece count inside one bundle moves with the diameter. On the counts Shyam Steel publishes for its own 12 metre bar, a bundle holds 10 rods at 8 mm, 7 at 10 mm, 5 at 12 mm, 3 at 16 mm, 2 at 20 mm, and one rod alone from 25 mm upward. IS 1786:2008 clause 3.2 defines a bundle only as two or more coils or lengths properly bound together and sets no count, so a mill is free to tie however it packs, and no page can promise the same number for SAIL, Tata Tiscon or a regional mill's bundle without reading the tag on that particular load.
What every bundle does agree on, whatever the tie, is the weight of one rod inside it, because that follows from the bar's own cross section and IS 1786, as amended, sets the density it is checked against. An 8 mm rod comes to about 4.74 kg and a 12 mm rod to about 10.67 kg on the sariya weight chart, and all ten diameters Jay Shree Infra keeps sit on that same chart. Multiply that rod weight by the piece count tied into the bundle in front of you and you get the bundle's weight, whichever mill sent it. The count changes mill to mill. The rod weight does not.

The rod weight column is the same figure the sariya weight chart already publishes, diameter squared divided by 162. The pieces column is Shyam Steel's own approximate count for its own 12 metre bar, and it is the only manufacturer count found in print; nobody else on this shop's rack publishes one. The bundle weight column multiplies the two together, so it is a Shyam Steel figure and not a figure any other mill has put its name to. 5.5 mm and 6 mm carry no published count because Shyam Steel's own table starts at 8 mm.
What does not move
The rod weight is fixed, the tie is not
IS 1786:2008 clause 7.2.1 fixes the density a bar is checked against at 7850 kg per cubic metre, which works out to 0.00785 kg for each square millimetre of section, per metre of length. That is where the weight column above comes from, and it is the same basis the sariya weight chart runs on for all ten diameters, cross checked there against the standard's own Table 1 nominal mass. The four amendments to IS 1786:2008 touch Table 3, Table 4 and a handful of marking clauses; the only change to Table 1 in the whole amendment history is Amendment No. 1 of November 2012 adding rows for 45 mm and 50 mm at the far end, which does not touch this shop's own size range at all.
So a 12 mm rod weighs about 10.67 kg whichever mill rolled it, within the tolerance IS 1786 allows on a batch. The number that is not fixed anywhere in the standard is how many of those rods a mill ties into one bundle.

One mill's count, and what it is not
Shyam Steel is on this shop's tmt rack, and its published count is the one number in this whole page that is not this shop's own arithmetic. Nothing says SAIL, Tata Tiscon, Alaknanda TMT, Solar TMT or Balmukund TMT ties the same way, because none of them has put a bundle count in print, and the shop cannot read one mill's habit onto another mill's bale. The tag on the bundle in front of you carries the cast or lot number, the grade and the size; it does not always carry the piece count, so a bundle bought by weight is checked on the weighbridge and a bundle bought by the piece is counted by hand before it goes on the vehicle.
Real weight moves a little from the chart figure too. IS 1786 Table 2 allows a batch to sit up to 7 percent either side of nominal mass at 10 mm and under, 5 percent between 12 and 16 mm, and 3 percent over 16 mm, so a 12 mm bundle of five rods at 53.35 kg on the chart can honestly weigh anywhere from about 50.6 to 56.0 kg and still meet the standard. Count the rods and weigh the bundle; either one alone can mislead on a light load.

Is this size going by weight or by the piece today?
It decides which rate you are quoted, and a piece rate and a weight rate are not the same number. Fix the rate on the basis you are actually buying on.
Can the bundle be weighed before it leaves?
IS 1786 lets a real bundle sit a few percent either side of the chart figure. Weighing settles what the chart alone cannot.
