Thirty five years in the Saharsa iron and steel trade, and the owner of {name}, the shop the bazaar calls Khagaria Wale.
Ajay Kumar Bageria is the owner of Jay Shree Infra on Meera Talkies Road, Saharsa. In the bazaar he is Munna Jee, and the shop is Khagaria Wale. He has worked the Saharsa iron and steel trade for thirty five years, and for most of those years the counter he stood at belonged to the men who taught him.
His grandfather dealt in iron and steel, and his grandfather's father before that: three generations of the Bageria family in the trade, about sixty years of it. Jay Shree Infra, the firm, was started in 2024. The firm is two years old and the trade behind it is a great deal older, and the two are never counted as one.
What thirty five years at a counter teaches
Which diameter of sariya moves in Saharsa and which one has to be sent for. What a thekedar on a tender job will take at the gate and what he will turn back. Which grade a drawing asks for, and which one the mistri on site will accept. Which cement bag is bought for a niv and which for a chhat dhalai. None of that is printed anywhere. It is learned by standing in the trade while somebody older does the talking, until the answers are your own.
It shows in what the rack holds. SAIL is his first pick for sariya: a Government of India maker, ISI marked, a mill test certificate with every load, the approved make on most tenders. HMB and Solar sections for grill and gate work, the lines fabricators here have taken for years. Super Shakti's Fe 600, the highest grade that mill makes, stocked and supplied for this area. UltraTech, ACC, Ambuja, Nuvoco, Shree and MP Birla on the cement rack, and Tata Durashine on the chadra rack.
How an order goes with him
Somebody picks up the counter phone All 7 days, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, him or whoever is at the desk. Say the material, the size, the grade or the brand, the quantity and the village, and what comes back is the rate standing that morning, whether the size is on the rack, and what the carriage to that road comes to. Delivery goes out in the shop's own vehicles to all 34 blocks of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura.
Sariya sells by the piece and by weight both, and which basis a line is on that day is settled before the figure, so two quotes can be compared on the same footing. Where the deal is on weight, the bill follows the weighbridge ticket.
