The company behind the name is Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited; at the counter it is simply SHYAM SEL. Three heavy sections come in under it, and everything loads at the one premises on Meera Talkies Road.

Beam, joist and channel, all of them rolled sections. The numbers under each row are Shyam Metalics' own.
- Beam (I-Beam)Shyam Metalics publishes eleven ISMB sections, ISMB 125x70 through ISMB 600x210, each with a mass in kilograms per metre and its depth and flange width beside it. The heaviest is 123.50 kg per metre. Give us the depth and the flange the drawing asks for.
- JoistShyam Metalics rolls joist and beam off one table, headed MS Beams/Joists (ISMB), so the same eleven sections answer either word. Read us the depth you have been given, or the ISMB number, and the joist order is settled.
- ChannelNine ISMC sections, from ISMC 75x40 at 7.14 kg per metre up to ISMC 400x100 at 50.10 kg per metre, with a depth and a flange width against each. Shyam Metalics is one of three channel names we keep.
Shyam Metalics also rolls angle, square bar, gate channel, Z angle and MS flat, its flat list running 19x6 up to 50x6 with 30x5 and 40x5 in between, and a TMT bar besides, but none of that comes to us under this name. Our angle and patti run on Solar and HMB, and the sariya rack carries other names again, so ask for those by the name on the bundle.
Reading the section list
One table covers the beam and the joist both
Beside the channel and the beam lists sits a third table, headed H-Beams, and it holds two rows: HB 116x100 at 23.00 kg per metre and HB 152x152 at 37.10. All three tables are set out the same way, a mass in kilograms per metre with the depth and the flange width beside it.
If a drawing calls for an H section, that is the third table and a separate question; ask for it as HB with the number. What a mass per metre turns into on a loaded vehicle is arithmetic anybody can do on a slip, and it is worked through for sariya in the sariya weight chart. Two Shyams
SHYAM SEL, and the Shyam that is not this one
SHYAM SEL and Shyam Metalics / SEL are one company, Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited. SEL Tiger is its flagship brand, and it will not sort a section from a bar for you: Shyam Metalics sells TMT bar, structural steel, wire rod, roofing sheet, foil and stainless steel rebar under that one name. So the tiger says who made the steel and leaves the material open.
Shyam Steel is a different company with its own rebar, and that is the Shyam on our sariya rack. No sariya comes into this godown under SHYAM SEL. Read the whole line off your bill or the tender, both words of it, and the two names come apart at once.

Shyam Metalics' own approvals list
Shyam Metalics publishes an approvals list for its structural steel, naming state infrastructure corporations, electricity utilities and water and rural works departments, several of them by their initials alone, SBPDCL among them. That matters to whoever is reading a tender document. Where an approved make is written into a job, read us the clause as printed and say whether a test certificate has to travel with the load.

Both point at Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited. SEL Tiger is that company's flagship brand and its range runs to six lines, TMT bar, structural steel, wire rod, roofing sheet, foil and stainless steel rebar, so the tiger sits on our sections as readily as on its bar. SHYAM SEL is the short name for the joist, beam and channel that reach this counter. No sariya comes in here under either spelling, and the Shyam on our sariya rack is Shyam Steel, a separate company.

In our own, from a tempo up to a full truck, and which one is decided by the weight and by the approach road. A rolled section travels long and stiff and will not turn every corner, so say the length the job needs and what the last stretch into the village is like.
