OPC is plain Portland cement, clinker ground with gypsum and nothing else blended in, and IS 269:2015 is the standard a bag sold under that name has to meet.

Jay Shree Infra keeps OPC cement bags at its Saharsa godown for RCC work, foundations, columns and slabs that want a fixed strength number early. It goes out to Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura on our own vehicles, by the bori and by the tonne, alongside the PPC bags and the rest of the cement rack.
IS 269:2015 covers five grades of OPC: 33, 43, 53, 43S and 53S, the last two built for railway concrete sleepers rather than a house slab. Not every maker on our rack sells the full five: UltraTech's own OPC page names four, 33, 43, 53 and 53-S, and leaves 43S off. What a bag actually meets is printed on the sack, and that is what gets read out on the call.
Grades
A grade list, in place of a size chart
Cement carries no dimension chart the way a rod or an angle does. What changes sack to sack is the cement type and the grade, both printed fresh on the bag, and it leaves the godown as one of two units, a bori or a tonne.
OPC is the type here, as against PPC. The grade inside a sack, and which of our stocked brands is carrying it this morning, is set out below.
A house going up a floor at a time usually buys by the bori. A slab booked for one pour, or a tender quantity, more often goes out by the tonne.
Kis kaam me lagta hai
RCC work is where OPC earns its place: footings, columns, beams and slabs that want a fixed strength number early, precast lintels and cover blocks, and anything cast against formwork that has to come off soon. Builders, thekedars and project companies all draw off the same OPC stack for this.
Roads, bridges and infrastructure work name OPC and its grade on the drawing, and tender supply usually has the grade on the approved list before it has a brand. Say the grade on the call, and if the sariya for the same pour is going out on the same trip, name that too so one vehicle covers both.
Five grades under IS 269:2015, not four
The Bureau of Indian Standards's own compendium of cement specifications names five grades under IS 269:2015: OPC 33, OPC 43, OPC 53, OPC 43S and OPC 53S. The Ministry of Railways' CAMTECH pamphlet of February 2022 sets out the same five. The two S grades are sleeper grades, made for railway concrete sleepers and not what a builder's order asks for.
What a maker sells is a narrower list than the standard's own. UltraTech's OPC page names four, 33, 43, 53 and 53-S, and leaves 43S out. That is UltraTech's list of what UltraTech sells, not the whole of what IS 269:2015 allows.
What the grade number is telling you
The number after OPC is the minimum strength, in megapascals, the standard requires that cement to reach at 28 days. A higher number is a higher strength floor, not a different cement or a different mix of raw material. Which grade a job wants is on the drawing or with the mistri on site, and we hold the bag on the floor against that number before it goes out.
Which of our bags carry OPC
OPC is not a separate rack here; it is one of the two cement types a stocked bag turns out to be once the sack is read. UltraTech's plain sack is OPC on one truck and PPC on the next, in whichever of UltraTech's own grades that load was made to; see UltraTech Plain. OPC ka grade drawing me nahi likha ho to kya karein?
Ask on the call what the job actually is, a footing, a column, a slab, a road panel, and we will point you to a grade that fits it. Where a mistri is running the site with no drawing, his word is what we go by, and the bag standing on the floor is confirmed against that before it is loaded.

OPC gives a fixed strength number checked at 28 days under IS 269:2015, which is what RCC work like a footing, a column or a slab under formwork wants. The job on the drawing decides the grade, and that is what we match the stocked bag to on the call.
