A figure like 400 to 450 bags gives a first sense of scale but leaves little for placing an actual order, because a house is four or five very different jobs stacked on top of each other, the foundation, the RCC members, the brick masonry, the plaster, and each one eats cement at its own rate.

Prism Cement's own component breakdown is the table below: a 6 inch foundation, a 5 inch roof slab, 9 inch brick walls, 12 mm plaster, each with its own bag count. Add up the four job lines and the total sits well under 400, because a house holds more concrete than a foundation, a slab, a wall and a coat of plaster. Columns, beams, lintels and the floor bed all draw from the same stack, and none of the four named jobs above carries their name.

Every figure here is Prism Cement's own, published on its own site. It is a range, and the drawing decides where inside it a real order falls. The gap between the four job rows and the row for the whole house is real, and no printing error. Add the low end of foundation, slab, walls and plaster and the sum is 220 bags; add the high end and it is 260, both well short of the 400 the whole house row starts at. Columns, beams, lintels and the floor bed make up the difference, RCC members that eat cement and carry no row of their own in this table.

Read the table as a planning number, not a delivery note. It tells a buyer roughly what scale of order a 1000 sq ft house sits at before a single drawing exists; it does not tell this shop, or any shop, how many bags to load for a particular Tuesday.

The mix

Why the range moves as much as it does

A cubic metre of concrete has its own bag count before a house is ever mentioned, and that is where the real number starts. UltraTech's own page on the M20 mix puts it at about 8 bags, roughly 400 kg, per cubic metre in the nominal 1:1.5:3 ratio, the mix most house slabs and columns are cast in without a lab test. A design mix, tested in a lab and the one engineers prefer for RCC work that matters, can land on either side of that figure depending on the aggregate and the strength wanted.

Neither number depends on the plot being 1000 sq ft. It depends on how many cubic metres of RCC the drawing actually calls for, a question about column sizes, beam depths and slab thickness, not about the floor area printed on a site plan. Plastering runs on its own separate arithmetic again: UltraTech's own figure is 1 to 1.5 bags per 100 sq ft at 12 mm thickness, which is why the plaster row in the table above sits close to the wall row even though the two jobs have nothing else in common.

How an order actually gets built here

Tell us what stage the work is at and we work off that stage's own count, not the whole house figure at once. A foundation order and a roof slab order are two different calls, weeks or months apart, and the bags standing on our floor the day of one have nothing to do with the day of the other. Cement sells here by the bag or by the tonne, and which one you are on gets fixed before the vehicle is booked. If a structural drawing or a bill of quantities already exists, read us the RCC volumes off it and we will talk in cubic metres instead of square feet, which is the basis the site itself is actually built on.

The limit

Where a thumb rule like this one stops

A figure like 400 to 450 is a budgeting number, published by one cement company for early planning, and it is not a standard's figure, because no BIS standard fixes how many bags a house eats, only how the cement itself has to perform once mixed. Treat it as a first sense of scale for a plan still on paper.

Once a drawing exists, the drawing decides. Where the two disagree, the published range loses every time, and that is exactly what it is for: a number to plan around before the real one is known, not a number to build to.

About 80 to 100 bags for a 6 inch foundation on a 1000 sq ft plan, again a published range and not a site-specific number. A foundation drawing with its actual depth and footing sizes settles it closer than any thumb rule can.

5 inch slab aur 6 inch slab me kitna fark padta hai?

On published figures a 5 inch roof slab runs 70 to 90 bags for a 1000 sq ft house. A thicker slab draws more cement roughly in proportion to the extra concrete volume, which is why the actual thickness on the drawing decides the count, not a guess made at the site.

Ginti bori me di hai, order bhi bori me hi dena hoga kya?

Both are sold here, and the choice usually follows the size of the order: a small stage like plaster stays in bags, a full slab pour often moves to the tonne. Tell us the count you are working to and we fix the basis before the vehicle is booked.
