Shuttering
Shuttering is the temporary formwork, timber, ply or steel, that holds wet concrete to shape until it has set enough to stand on its own, whether that is a niv, a column or a slab.

The shuttering goes up first, and the tied reinforcement cage sits inside it on cover blocks before the pour, held off the shuttering face by the distance IS 456 asks for: 20 mm in mild exposure, 30 mm in moderate, and up to 75 mm where the exposure is worse. The block is the one item whose whole job is holding that gap steady while the concrete goes in around it.
The shuttering stays up until the concrete has gained enough strength to carry itself, and it is not sold at this counter the way the steel and the cement going into it are. What this godown keeps is what a shuttered cage needs before the pour: cover blocks at the height the drawing calls for, and tar to hold the bars at their spacing.
