Bandal is the counter's own word for the tied stack, and the standard itself sets no fixed number for one: a mill ties however its own line packs. Shyam Steel's published figures for its 12 metre bar show the piece count falling as the diameter climbs, down to a single length once the bar is heavy enough, and the full breakdown by size sits on the rods per bundle guide. SAIL, Tata Tiscon or another mill's own bale cannot be promised the same number without a look at the tag on that particular load.

What does not change with the tie is the mass carried inside a single rod, since that comes from the bar's own cross section rather than from how a mill bundles it: roughly 4.74 kilograms sits in one 8 mm length and roughly 10.67 kilograms in one 12 mm length. A bundle sold by weight goes over the weighbridge; one sold by the piece is counted by hand before the vehicle pulls out, and either method turns up at this counter depending on the grade and the brand.
