The word covers every stage that ends in a pour, a niv dhalai, a column dhalai or a chhat dhalai, and it names the day rather than the material. A chhat dhalai is reinforced concrete, so the cement bought for it has to be one written for that work: OPC under IS 269:2015, PPC under IS 1489, Portland slag under IS 455, or composite cement under IS 16415, and masonry cement is kept off it entirely.
Once the pour is done, curing is the separate stage that follows it, keeping the concrete wet while it gains strength; dhalai is the day the concrete goes in, not the days after it. Sariya, tar and the right cement all have to be on site together before the dhalai, because running out of any one of them midway is the harder mistake to fix.
