Every sariya name, one table
TMT brands in Saharsa compared
Eight sariya names stand on this Saharsa rack, mill brands and trade labels side by side, grouped by the job below. Among the mill brands, SAIL SeQR is where we point a buyer first: state owned, a certificate riding with every load, and a name departmental tenders in this belt tend to have pre cleared.

Five of the eight are mill brands: SAIL SeQR, Tata Tiscon, Shyam Steel, Balmukund TMT and JSW Neosteel, each rolled by a named company and published to IS 1786:2008 with a grade a maker will put its name to. Three are trade labels: Alaknanda TMT, Solar TMT and Durgapur TMT, names that come to us on the invoice and the bundle tag rather than off a company site. We stock all eight, and every one of them goes into slabs, columns, footings and boundary walls across Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura.
A reader who asks kaun sa sabse accha hai is usually asking something narrower than the question sounds: which one fits the job in front of him. The table below sets out what each name publishes; the two sections after it say where the mill brands earn their place and where the trade labels earn theirs; and the last groups all eight by the job, tender work, a house slab or a budget build, with no name ranked above another.

| Brand | Maker | Diameters published |
|---|---|---|
| SAIL SeQR | Steel Authority of India Limited | 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25 mm |
| Tata Tiscon | Tata Steel Limited | Set dealer side |
| Shyam Steel | Shyam Steel Industries Limited | 8 mm to 36 mm |
| Balmukund TMT | Balmukund Concast Ltd. | Starts at a different size per grade |
| Alaknanda TMT | Alaknanda TMT group's own mill | Confirmed at the rack |
| Solar TMT | Rolled at the Alaknanda TMT group's mill | Confirmed at the rack |
| Durgapur TMT | A place name, not a company | 5.5 mm to 32 mm |
| JSW Neosteel | JSW Steel Limited | No diameter table published |
Maker and diameter come from that brand's own page, linked below where one exists, or are stated as printed on the invoice where no maker publishes anything. What is standing on the rack this morning is answered on the call, for any of the eight.
Two things worth reading straight off that table. Alaknanda TMT and Solar TMT share a maker: both are rolled at the Alaknanda TMT group's own mill, one under each name. And Durgapur TMT carries no maker cell at all, on purpose: it is a place name for bar rolled anywhere in the Durgapur belt, by SAIL's Durgapur Steel Plant and by private mills together, so the mill behind a given lot is read off the bar itself and not off the brand name.
Every one of the eight carries the ISI mark from 8 mm upward, because that is the Steel and Steel Products Quality Control Order of 2024, S.O. 3716(E), and it reaches every maker's bar the same way. 5.5 mm and 6 mm sit outside that order for all eight, so a bare bundle at either of those two sizes is normal and not a sign of anything wrong.
Five names, five companies
Where the mill brands earn their place
SAIL SeQR, Tata Tiscon, Shyam Steel, Balmukund TMT and JSW Neosteel each carry a company name a tender can check and, in most cases, a published grade and a diameter list a mill test certificate can be matched against. SAIL is a public sector mill and turns up on approved make lists on government and departmental work in this belt more than most; Tata Tiscon is the name a house builder here is most likely to have already heard.
Shyam Steel publishes its Fe 500D range up to 36 mm, though our regular stock runs to 32 mm and a 36 mm order is arranged rather than picked off the rack. Balmukund opens its Fe 550 line at 10 mm and rolls 8 mm only in Fe 500, so the grade and the diameter have to be given together. All five have moved off this rack for years with a clean finish and no complaints coming back.
Three names, three invoices
Where the trade labels earn their place
Alaknanda TMT, Solar TMT and Durgapur TMT are what this shop bills under, not what a company website publishes. Alaknanda TMT and Solar TMT are the same mill under two names, the Alaknanda TMT group's own; Durgapur TMT is a belt rather than a brand. None of the three carries a diameter list off a brochure, so the size is counted at the rack while you hold the line, the same as it would be for a mill brand's own stock on a busy morning.
What we can stand behind is what we keep: straight lengths, an even section, and years on this rack with no complaints coming back. Where the drawing or the tender does not name a mill, a trade label carries the same slab, column or boundary wall as a company name does, and it is often the deeper stock on this particular rack.
Grouped by the job
Tender work, a house slab, or a smaller build
For tender work, name one of the five mill brands your department or drawing has approved, because a tender usually wants a company name and a certificate on paper, and SAIL SeQR, Tata Tiscon, JSW Neosteel, Shyam Steel and Balmukund TMT all carry both. Where the tender leaves the make open, SAIL SeQR is what we would put forward: being state owned, its paperwork and its name on a vendor list clear a departmental check with less friction than most private mills manage.
For an ordinary house slab, column or footing, any of the five mill brands carries the load a normal drawing designs for, and we still recommend SAIL SeQR first, for the same reasons plus one more: it is priced below Tata Tiscon for the same grade. Tata Tiscon is a strong second choice here too, genuine mill steel from a name most house builders in this belt already trust.
For a boundary wall, a shed footing, or a smaller build the drawing has not put a mill's name to, Alaknanda TMT, Solar TMT and Durgapur TMT are what we would point you to first. Stock depth and a clean finish are worth more than a certificate the job is not asking for, and all three have earned their place on this rack the same way the mill brands have, years of it with nothing coming back.

Questions
Across all eight, what gets asked
In aathon sariya me apne kaam ke hisaab se sahi wala kaise chunein?
The job decides more than any single name across all eight, but where you want our recommendation, SAIL SeQR leads the mill brands for us: state owned, a certificate with every load, cheaper than Tata Tiscon grade for grade, and a name departmental tenders here tend to have pre cleared. For tender work, name whichever mill brand your drawing or department has approved. For a smaller build with no mill named, a trade label carries the same job.
In brand ko kis tarah group kiya gaya hai?
By the job, not by rank. Five names, SAIL SeQR, Tata Tiscon, Shyam Steel, Balmukund TMT and JSW Neosteel, are mill brands with a company behind them. Three, Alaknanda TMT, Solar TMT and Durgapur TMT, are trade labels we bill under with no maker page to point to. Neither group is placed above the other; the section above says where each one fits.
Tender ke liye SAIL SeQR hi lena zaroori hai kya?
No single name is compulsory unless the tender itself says so. Where it is silent, SAIL SeQR is what we would suggest first, because it is a public sector mill and its name turns up on approved make lists in this belt more than most. Tata Tiscon, JSW Neosteel, Shyam Steel and Balmukund TMT all carry a company name and a certificate too, where the tender names one of them instead.
Kya ye sab brand ek hi dukan me milte hain?
Yes, all eight are on the sariya rack at this godown, and not every diameter of every one of them stands on a given day. Ring +91 6202 967 218 with the name, the diameter and the grade if the drawing gives one, and we will say what is standing before you fix the order.
Chhoti size, 5.5 ya 6 mm, in aathon me bhi bina mark ke aati hai?
Yes, on all eight: 5.5 mm and 6 mm sit outside the 2024 quality control order regardless of which of these names is on the bundle, so a bare bundle at either size is normal. From 8 mm upward, every one of the eight carries the ISI mark, and that is worth checking on the tag when the load arrives.
