Tin sheet, tina, tina chadra: three names for the same corrugated roll, bare galvanised steel with no paint over the zinc coat. A godown builder or a PACS contractor asks for tina by the length and the thickness, 0.30 mm or 0.45 mm here, and the corrugation itself is what tells a mistri the sheet apart from a flat plate at a glance.
It is sold by the sheet, by the length and sometimes by the kilo, and the length decides how a roof gets cut before the frame is even loaded. A shed roof and a boundary wall coping do not always take the same length, so the length is one of the first things settled on the call, alongside the thickness and the brand.
